Indo-Pak armies exchange gunfire along LoC in Rajouri district | KNO

Rajouri, Apr 01 (KNO): The armies of India and Pakistan on Wednesday exchanged heavy gunfire in two areas of Rajouri, which escalated the prevailing tension between both the sides. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Line of Control dividing both the sides was relatively witnessing an uneasy calm and lessen incident of ceasefire violations from last three weeks since COVID19 scare spread across the world. However, in last four days the exchange of fire has started again in different areas of Rajouri and Poonch, which include Pukharni Nowshera in Rajouri and Balakote, Krishna Ghati and Poonch sectors of Poonch district. Official sources said that on Tuesday late evening at 10:30 PM, ceasefire violation took place in Tarkundi and Balakote forward and for more than three hours, heavy ceasefire violation continued in the area. "More than seven forward locations of Indian Army remain engaged under fire with Pakistani troops used both small arms as well as mortars to target troops on this side." sources said, adding that Indian Army strongly retaliated the fire. Similarly, on Wednesday evening at about 05 PM, ceasefire violation started in Nowshera and Sunderani sectors of Rajouri district. " Mahadev, Mainka, Kalal areas of both sectors are under firing from 5 PM and Pakistan army resorted to intense mortar shelling which was effectively retaliated from this side leading to fierce exchange of fire which was going on when last reports were received." said officials. They further said that immediately there are no reports of any loss of life in firing. Jammu based Army Spokesman, Lt Col Devendar Anand said that Pakistan resorted ceasefire in both these areas and Indian army strongly retaliated the fire –(KNO)
